Alpha Omicron Pi was founded on a promise to serve not only one another but the greater community as well. This commitment reflects a philosophy of friendship, concern, and usefulness in the world.

Commitment to
Dignity

Whether a member chooses to serve as a chapter officer, or represent AOII as a member of other campus or community organizations, there are numerous opportunities to develop leadership skills as a member of AOII.

Commitment to
Scholarship

AOII encourages all members to excel academically and has many programs designed to assist women in achieving their academic goals. Expectations are high but the support provided by scholarship programs, academic development officer resources, and fellow members makes success attainable.

Commitment to
College Loyalty

From collegiate years on through alumnae involvement, the reason AOIIs continue service is the joy of spending time together and sharing the insights learned from the relationships we build and sustain.

Letter from the President

Welcome to the Pi Omicron chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi! Here at Austin Peay State University, we have continued to grow since we colonized in the Fall of 2014. I am honored to say we have grown and flourished into an amazing and diverse group of intelligent and inspiring women.

My name is Valerie Echevarria Mandez ; I am a sophomore majoring in elementary education at APSU. I am from Puerto Rico, but my dad was in the military so we moved a few places and clarksville was one of them. I graduated from West Creek so I knew a few people coming to Austin Peay, but not many. Joining this sisterhood gave me a home away from home and lifelong friendships that have given me more than I could have ever imagined. It is an honor to get to be a part of this incredible organization made up of such diverse, genuine, and ambitious young women. We strive to inspire ambition within each of our members so that she may become the very best version of herself..

I am excited to tell you about all of our sisters’, past and present, involvements in organizations outside of AOII. It just shows that our values and ambitions reach outside of AOII. We have sisters involved in Panhellenic Council, The Austin Peay Dance Team, The National Society of Leadership & Success, Order of Omega, The International Honor Society of Education, Golden Key Honor Society, Rho Lambda Honor Society, Honors Program, National Student Nurses Association, Gamma Sigma Alpha Honor Society, Sigma Theta Tau International Honors Society, Govs Programming Council, Student Government Association, and Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society.

Our members support our National Philanthropy, The Arthritis Foundation, for whom we raise money each year through events. We are also able to give back to the brave men and women who fight for our country by raising money to provide care packages for as many troops as we can through the Yellow Ribbon Foundation. As a child of a deployed soldier, this organization means so much to myself and all of my sisters. We love being able to give back to our community where we are able to implement the leadership skills and hearts of service that we have developed through AOII.

I hope you enjoy exploring our sorority’s values, involvements, and activities.

Valerie Echevarria Mandez, Pi Omicron Chapter President
